Uncorking Compassion: Wine World and The Little Pink Gift Foundation Unite for Impact
We live in a world where kindness and generosity can make a significant impact, more so than anything else. That is the foundation of this unique partnership between Wine World and the Little Pink Gift Foundation which has blossomed and grown over several years for a heartfelt mission.
This year Wine World has joined hands with The Little Pink Gift Foundation, a non-profit organization in Barbados dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and raising awareness about the disease. Lynda Lewis - a breast cancer survivor herself - established the The Little Pink Gift Foundation in October 2010 with support from her two daughters.
With early diagnosis and accurate testing procedures, the survival rates from this disease are extremely high. Unfortunately, the cost to test and diagnose breast cancer can be prohibitively expensive, as the average cost of a biopsy – used to sample lumps to test for abnormal tissues or to assess the severity of the cancer – has an average cost of $1,300 per lump. While some persons may qualify for public healthcare support, there can be significant time delays in diagnosis and treatment.
This ongoing collaboration between Wine World and The Little Pink Gift aims to make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected and educate the public about the significance of timely intervention to survival. Throughout the partnership, Wine World has pledged to donate towards the cost of biopsies for those in need and your support in this invaluable endeavor is appreciated.
HOW TO SUPPORT
For the month of October, donation boxes will be available instore for your valuable contribution and our website www.wineworldinc.com will also be equip for $5 donations on check out (But feel free to give more to this important cause!). Of course, monetary contributions can be made by cheque and mailed to the below address, or collection can be arranged.
The Little Pink Gift is Registered Charity #843. Donations can be claimed on your annual income tax return so be sure to request a receipt from our office!
